my two cents about this :

I think there are several reasons for these kind of courses:

• Earning more money -> making an even better website
• Getting more people to use SuperMemo, because the i-can-earn-money-with-my-course-editors will do marketing for SuperMemo
• The quality of user courses will increase, because ppl are interested in getting good ratings for their courses because then they can sell more of them
• You'll never be able to make just a fraction of the amount and themes of courses supermemo could offer yourself. You simply don't have the expertise in all the areas supermemo could cover (see ideas below).

User generated content is something people are used to, so this isn't generally a problem I think.
You implemented two features already which cover the quality related problems:

• A user rating that gives a first impression
• The Try-Now-Button: You can check the whole course before buying it. That's pretty much service

A third feature could be some kind of certification. A certified course could either mean that Supermemo staff revisited it or that any independent expert revisited the course or both. Such a certificate would make sense for courses that are bought pretty often and the creator of a course could have the chance to buy a certificate, if he wants to pay for the effort it takes to review the course.
Maybe the possibility to add a comment to the rating would be a good idea too, so ppl know why a rating was bad or good (like amazon does).

 Ideas for courses that would conquer a target group or the world :

• Teachers, professors, research assistants could use it as additional service to their scripts or as an additional service for revision courses.
• In german we have some big organisations that offer private lessons. They could use supermemo to support those lessens.
• As a company that offers training courses for whatever (in my case it's a special software) I would like to offer it as a simple way to learn the technical terms and keep them in memory even after the three days of the training course.
• Terminology or special language is always a pretty could point here.
• There are a lot of quiz shows on TV - an preparing courses for that.
• "General education" - this is something ppl want to know - if they can have it that easy... coool... different in each country and depending on the focus of the ppl who offer the course
• "What everybody should know about history." / musicians / the internet / politics / ...
• Biography informations about film stars, sports stars, ...
• Newspapers could support articles with "learn the facts forever"

Hello Irene!

Your ideas sound very interesting. I am from Germany too and perhaps we should have stay in contact. I am very new here and I have an idea for a new course in the health branch. This are the informations, I need urgently before investing time and work in a new project:

I would like to have some people with me who collect, structurize and edit the course content her on this web platform, so that we would have an editor community.

After the course is complete, we would let people learn with it, when they register and pay for it. And of course, we as the creators want to participate from the income.

Further I want to have a safety copy of all content, we have uploaded her on this platform, as Supermemo does not take any responsibility in case of data loss. This safety copy should have such a data format, that I can load it locally with SuperMemo UX and work with it, as if the creation of the course would have always been run locally.
