I'm wondering if I should give myself a time limit on answering questions. I haven't seen the issue of time limits addressed in any of the articles on SuperMemo.com or in any forum posts.
Do you learn better if you only allow yourself 5 seconds to respond or is the goal to remember without a reminder, even if that means taking 2 minutes to think hard?
Has anyone else thought about this?
Personally, I mark an answer as "Almost" if it's taken me longer than I'd like to recall the fact. If I get it right away, that's a "yes"; if it takes me a moment, still a "yes"; but if I can't remember for a longer time, then I'd click "almost" in the hopes that it will come up again soon and I'll remember faster next time. It's still a fact that I know, but knowing doesn't do me much good if it takes too long to recall.
I think it's up to you to find a system that works, and I never really time myself- I just go by feel. If something "feels" harder to remember, I want to review it more frequently until it's easier.
